Ophthalmology and Visual Science

Research Summary

Main study in department of Ophthalology is devided into basic and clinical study . Main theme of basic study is pathophysiological mechanism of intraocular neovascularization, especially for choroidal neovascularization.. Ongoing studies in the laboratory are morphogenesis and molecular composition in elastic lamina of Bruch’s membrane in mouse and detection of laser-induced experimental choroidal neovascularization by OCT angiography. Clinicopathological correlation of choroidal neovascularization between OCT angiography image and histopathological findings is also investigated.
In clinical setting, age-related macular degemeration , glaucoma, vitreoretinal disease and diabetic  retinopathy are target diseases for evaluating therapeutic effect by variable treatments and new multimodality diagnostic tools.
