Psychosomatic Medicine

Research Summary

Mind-body interaction is unique and essential theme in psychosomatic medicine. To clarify the concept more, our group investigate various characteristics of psychosomatic diseases, such as the involvement of psychosocial factors, autogenic nervous system, or endocrine system to the pathophysiological mechanisms, the doctor-patient interaction in the clinical settings, and the efficacy of psychosomatic treatments to them.
There are some difficulties to evaluate these diseases, because they often show medically unexplained symptoms. We especially focuses on functional somatic syndrome, functional gastrointestinal disorders, and chronic pain syndrome. And we applies multivariate analysis, psychophysiological method, or qualitative research to our research.
