Viral Oncology

Research Summary

Microbial pathogens and infections have been recently receiving much attention due to the frequent occurrence of emerging or reemerging infectious diseases. Medical students must update their knowledge about rapidly emerging new infectious diseases, as well as master the traditional microbiology system that has accumulated over its long history. Furthermore, current advances in molecular biology and immunology not only deepen our understanding of bacteriology, virology and infectious diseases but also merge them with other research areas.
The Department of Microbiology gives lectures on microbiology to second-year students, and manages a tutorial course on infectious diseases for third-year ones. We provide education for students to form the academic basis required for clinical rotation from a social viewpoint and to have an appreciation of the molecular level through learning microbiology and infectious diseases.
