Center for Health Professions Education
An Integrated Educational Support System from Admission to After Graduation
The Center for Health Professions Education was established in October 2011 with the aim of fostering excellent medical professionals with a rich sense of humanity based on the University’s founding spirit of Jijinshinkyo (Benevolence, Compassion, and Empathy) and its desire to provide a world-class medical education.
The Center supports various educational activities at KMU based on its expertise in medical education. As of April 2025, 3 dedicated faculty members, 5 faculty members in concurrent posts (including those in charge of IR), and 6 administrative staff members (including those with other responsibilities) are responsible for the Center’s operations. The Center consists of (1) The Development and Research Department (curriculum development/evaluation, certification support by field, and research in medical education), (2) The Study Support Department (study support, CBT support, OSCE support and administration, SP development/medical interview support, ICT educational support, Clinical Clerkship support, support for education after graduation, and lectures), (3) The Faculty Support Department (FD support), (4) The IR Department (educational IR operations), and (5) The Regional Medical Care Education Department (support for specially admitted/regionally admitted students, lectures), providing an integrated educational support system from admission to after graduation in collaboration with various University bodies such as the Academic Affairs Committee of the School of Medicine and the Student Committee.

University Library
Supporting Various Learning Styles of Students and Faculty Members
The collections of the University Library include books and journals suited to education, research and medical care at KMU and academic information such as databases, electronic journals, and electronic books. In addition, the Main Library is open for holidays including Sundays, national holidays, and year-end and New Year holidays, offering a place where students can learn independently.
The Library also provides education in information literacy in line with educational programs and it continues to provide services to alumni, registered doctors, and doctors at partner hospitals as part of regional medical care support.
With the opening of the Faculty of Nursing Branch Library in April 2018 and the Makino Branch Library in April 2021, we are striving to enhance our collections related to nursing, rehabilitation, and related fields and to encourage library use.

Historical Archives
Exhibiting Materials that Tell the History and Traditions of KMU
As part of KMU’s 70th anniversary project, the Historical Archives were established on the former Takii Campus in November 1999. The Archives seek to elucidate KMU’s founding spirit and to publicly honor our predecessors by storing and exhibiting precious materials that tell KMU’s history and traditions of over 97 years since the founding of Osaka Women’s Medical College in June 1928. As a result of the campus relocation in 2013, the collections were relocated and are now exhibited on the 3rd floor of the Faculty of Medicine Building on the Hirakata Campus.
The room showcases former chairmen of the board, university presidents, and principals and it exhibits materials and photos of historical buildings, nameplates, uniforms, etc. from the time of founding to the present in line with the chronology classified by milestone.

Clinical Training Center
Cultivating Personality and Acquiring Basic Medical Skills
The Clinical Training Center supports residents and resident dentists who engage in training at KMU Hospital and KMU Medical Center (core clinical training hospitals) so that they can cultivate a sense of humanity and learn to appropriately address common injuries and illnesses in general practice, regardless of their future specialties, while recognizing the roles of medicine and dentistry in society.

Clinical Simulation Center
Well-equipped facilities with an abundance of equipment support the acquisition and improvement of medical skills
The Clinical Simulation Center offers a place to acquire and improve medical skills for students of the Faculty of Medicine, the Faculty of Nursing, and the Faculty of Rehabilitation, trainees of the KMU Recurrent Course for nurses, medical staff of facilities affiliated with KMU, as well as medical professionals in the region. In a large space of 345m2 on the 3rd floor of the Faculty of Medicine Building on the Hirakata Campus, the Center has over 100 types of simulators including state-of-the-art robot-assisted surgery simulators, vascular IVR simulators, and vascular intervention simulation trainers (VISTs), as well as facilities for simulating team medical care and delivery beds for midwifery education. The Center is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and it is used by about 15,000 people annually.

Career Center for Female Doctors
Providing Opportunities for Every Female Doctor to Fulfil Their Potential
Responding to a recent increase in the ratio of female doctors and the expanded role female doctors need to play, the Career Center for Female Doctors was established in 2020 to create an environment where “every female doctor can continue her careers with peace of mind.” The Center aims to establish an environment where female doctors can continue their careers while experiencing various life events. Based on the idea that its efforts will lead to good working conditions for both male and female doctors in the future, the Center provides support focusing on (1) career advancement support, (2) return-to-work support, (3) improved working conditions, (4) educational activities, and (5) a consultation desk.

Nursing Career Development Center
Design the Nursing Career
The Nursing Career Development Center was established in April 2021. In collaboration with the Departments of Nursing Services at the four KMU hospitals and the Faculty of Nursing, the Center aims to improve the quality of nursing practice and education. To this end, the Center provides career development support to all nursing professionals in KMU’s affiliated facilities, promote mutual collaboration in education and research and career development for students in the Faculty of Nursing, and improve quality of nursing practice and education through activities such as community contributions. The Center also assists nursing professionals returning to work and ensure an adequate number of nurses.
The Center consists of five departments that address the following: (1) Education, training, and nursing practical support (career support before and after graduation); (2) Training and practical support in Specified Medical Acts Training System; (3) Activities of specialized nurses and registered nurses support;(4) Nursing research support, and (5) Employment and return-to-work support for nurses, and is working to expand and enhance the activities of each department.

Biomedical Engineering Center
Biomedical Engineering Meets Translational Medicine
The interdisciplinarity between medicine and engineering is not just important, it's transformative in today’s world; this is exactly the topic on which the Biomedical Engineering Center focuses. In our workflow, physicians bring clinical insights, while engineers bring problem-solving tools and methodologies. In particular, we are specialized in Raman spectroscopy and imaging. Together, we can tackle challenges like neurodegenerative diseases, cancer treatment, orthopedic and dental issues, and pandemic response quite effectively.

KMU Tower
A Regional Landmark Nearly 116 Meters High
Completed in January 2022, the KMU Tower is a high-rise tower symbolizing KMU. The Tower consists of a 12-story building with a tower on top of it; it has a height of 115.95m and a total floor area of 5,229.70m2. It houses the KMU Tower Hotel for inpatients and their families, the Center for Global Engagement, and housing for international students. The hotel lobby and front desk are on the 1st floor, and the Center for Global Engagement is on the 2nd floor. The Center aims to enhance the overall globalization of education and research. As a base providing global information at KMU, the Center has four departments: the International Exchange and Education Department, the International Research Department, the International Public Relations Department, and the International Medical Support Department.
On the 3rd floor, there are four conference rooms and seminar rooms where international conferences and lecture meetings can be held. The 4th to 8th floors are the dormitory (55 rooms) for international students, including students of the “International Postgraduate Program” where exceptional individuals from Asian, Africa, and East European countries study.
The KMU Tower Hotel on the 9th to 11th floors opened in June 2022.
Responding to the needs of patients and their families, the KMU Tower Hotel operates 24 rooms as a hospital-adjacent hotel where they can stay comfortably.
With the establishment of the KMU Tower, Kansai Medical University aims to develop further in order to contribute to medical education, research, and care in Japan and around the world.

Center for Global Engagement
Evolving to Become a “University Open to the World”
The Center for Global Engagement was established in 2022 to promote the advanced globalization of medical science, nursing science, rehabilitation science, and medical care in cooperation with KMU, KMU hospitals, the Division of Public Relations, and other related departments and to cultivate a global mindset among KMU faculty members and students, thereby promoting the globalization of KMU as a whole and fulfilment of its social and global missions. The Center consists of (1) the International Exchange and Education Department, (2) the International Research Department, (3) the International Public Relations Department, and (4) the International Medical Support Department.
The Center works to create a site for education and exchanges with exceptional individuals around the world, to promote innovative research leading to joint international research, collaboration between industry and academia, and creation of intellectual property, to actively and strategically conduct international PR activities to help improve KMU’ s global standing, and to contribute internationally through international cooperation in healthcare and the spread of medical technology.

International Postgraduate Program
Further Enhancing KMU’s Research Capabilities and International Nature
The International Postgraduate Program is a newly established system unique to KMU and started its program in AY 2022.
Based on the educational philosophy of the Graduate School of Medicine, it aims to foster leaders who can contribute to medicine and healthcare between Japan and related countries by accepting outstanding students from partner universities in Asian, African, and East European countries. Seven students enrolled in 2022 and six students enrolled in 2023, five students enrolled in 2024. It will provide support such as subsidies for travel expenses, admissions fee and tuition waivers, and scholarships to create an environment where students can concentrate on medical research so that they can advance their careers by acquiring medical knowledge and skills. It should also help to directly and indirectly improve relationships between Japan and other countries through various activities in fields beyond just medicine and healthcare.

KMU Tower Hotel
An Easily Accessible Place to Rest Your Body and Mind
The KMU Tower Hotel, which has accommodations on the same premises as the KMU Hospital, consists of the 1st floor of the KMU Tower (front desk and hotel lobby) and the 9th to 11th floors (guest rooms). There are 24 guest rooms in total: 15 single rooms, 8 twin rooms, and 1 barrier-free twin room. The hotel rooms are available for patients traveling from a distance, patients making daily visits for radiotherapy, and families accompanying patients being admitted to/discharged from the hospital. The rooms are also available for single-day use so that outpatients receiving prolonged chemotherapy and families of patients transported to the Emergency and Critical Care Center can take a rest. Since it is operated by KMU Hospital, the Hotel has a system in place for the Emergency and Critical Care Center to respond appropriately if a patient’s condition deteriorates during his or her stay. The KMU Tower Hotel offers patients and their family’s comfort, and it increased the convenience of KMU Hospital.
