Overview of Faculty of Rehabilitation

Learning Features

The Faculty of Rehabilitation offers programs to acquire specialized knowledge and skills to support people facing restrictions in their daily lives due to a disability and to foster professionals who are creative and proactive and who can adeptly contribute to society. In the Department of Physical Therapy, students learn knowledge and skills related to physical therapy such as “cutting-edge rehabilitation medicine” and “sports rehabilitation” so that they can play a role in the field of rehabilitation medicine, which integrates science and technology. The Department of Occupational Therapy offers free elective subjects such as “Neurological development and occupational therapy,” “Rehabilitation in palliative care,” and “Assistive technology” in addition to required subjects to foster occupational therapists who can provide occupational therapy to people with various diseases and of various ages. Completed in 2021, the Faculty of Rehabilitation Building has an advanced technology laboratory with the latest robotics technology and three-dimensional motion analysis system and a home simulation laboratory with the latest household furnishings and assistive devices.

Curriculum of the Faculty of Rehabilitation

The curriculum of the Faculty of Rehabilitation consists of basic subjects, specialized basic subjects, and specialized subjects. The 1st year curriculum offers basic subjects for students to acquire communication skills to build a good relationship with patients undergoing rehabilitation, extensive knowledge and skills, and high morals to respect human dignity. Students will also study the history of rehabilitation and its role in society. In the 2nd and 3rd years, students will acquire knowledge and skills related to the structure and functions of the human body and health, diseases, and disabilities as well as knowledge about medical care, health, and welfare related to rehabilitation. Students will also learn a series of processes of physical therapy and occupational therapy in clinical settings through clinical training. In the 4th year, students will integrate knowledge and skills acquired in respective departments and aim to acquire skills and knowledge that will be required in rehabilitation settings in the future by exploring issues in physical therapy and occupational therapy. The curriculum will foster creativity and proactivity so that students can adeptly contribute to society through practice and practical training to acquire practical skills. With these curricula, students will be qualified to take the national examination for physical therapists or occupational therapists upon graduation.

1st Year

Understanding bioethics, human dignity, and health and the principles of rehabilitation, and acquiring the foundations to build teamwork.

2nd Year

Acquiring basic medical knowledge and basic knowledge required to support the daily lives of patients, children with disabilities, and elderly people.

3rd Year

Instilling specialized knowledge and skills, improving problem-solving ability, and fostering the ability to devise systematic physical therapy and occupational therapy.

4th Year

Instilling the ability to provide quality systematic physical therapy and occupational therapy to various people through collaboration with other professionals.
